This was one of the most unique and beautiful wedding I’ve been to.  Honoring the old traditions of Tonga with the modern traditions of today was fascinating.  This was a ceremony and wedding dinner event.  The ceremony was performed outside at the Waterfall Plaza at Atrium, one of Western Garden’s wedding reception centers in Utah.

The family first laid down a traditional mat for the bride and wedding party to walk upon to her future husband.   The best men and boys sat down on the mat to witness the union.  Even a couple of the women sat down on the mat to watch.  The most tender part for me was to watch the bride procession to the front.  She was escorted by one of her 5 brothers.  At the back of the guest seating, another brother stood up from the crowd and traded with her brother continuing her walk forward.  Several steps later, another brother took his turn and so on until the oldest brother walked her to her waiting fiancé.  Her father had passed away and it was so tender to watch those big brothers embrace her and walk with her to the front.  I shall never forget it.  After the ceremony, everyone went inside to enjoy a sit down dinner for about 140 guests.  Lani Kai supplied the delicious polynesian courses and a family friend created the couple’s cake.  There were smile around for everyone at this Utah wedding reception center.

Reception Centers in Utah that Naturally Create a Romantic Moment

Atrium Weddings is one of those reception centers in Utahthat creates romantic moments without a lot of decorating.  With all the green lush plants, water features, and garden furniture, the couple can feel like they are far away in an exotic comfortable setting.  This couple chose Atrium and as you will see from the photos, their ceremony and dinner was magical and so beautiful.  Their photographer is TJ Romero (RomeroPhotgraphers.com) who is lives in Denver, Colorado, but does a lot of work here in Utah.  His style is very clean and he has a knack of capturing those special moments.

Michelle and Jeremiah were planning on having their ceremony outside, but due to a Utah heat-wave, the event was brought indoors to the air-conditioned main hall of Atrium.  With a touch of white sashes on some of the chairs, the setting was ready.  Their adorable children helped as ring boy and flower girls.

Mindy Mellenthin was their caterer for their wedding luncheon which was served buffet style.  The menu included pecan green salad, fresh fruit, and delicious home made rolls.  Guests could enjoy the sweet crystal candy sticks or their gift box of a mini wedding cake.  These were placed at each table setting.  Our Atrium wedding venue dish-ware package was used for the dinner before the reception.

Her floral designs were by Skyline Flowers.  Simple vases of lilies and roses adorned the buffet tables.  Atrium’s wood bases were used for the guest tables along with Atrium’s boxwood wreaths.  The bride’s bouquet was created with elegant flowers in whites and creams.  A variety of textures were combined with the soft touch of lamb’s ear giving it an extra chic feel.  Boutonnieres were white roses with a touch of freesia.

One Sweet Slice was the chosen cake provider at this Utah wedding.  This stunning cake was a majestic square three-tiered masterpiece.  One large fondant ribbon draped over the chic grey walls and the rows of pearls at the base of each tier.  Rose petals were scattered at the base over the Tiffany blue table linen.  Simple and extremely elegant is how I would describe this work of art.

Wedding reception centers in Utah can already have the atmosphere a bride needs without spending a lot of money on added flowers and decorations.  Atrium Weddings is one such Utah wedding reception venue.

Utah wedding venues are many, but few allow the bride to experience that outdoor garden weddings in the middle of winter.  Several issues can hinder an outdoor garden wedding like weather, out-of-season plant material, and safety concerns for family and guests. Utah only has about 4.5 months of the year that are freeze free, therefore brides looking for Utah wedding locations should seek Utah wedding reception centers that provide an “atrium” for that garden feel.  Hence, Atrium Weddings is such a venue.

Atrium Weddings provides that beautiful outdoor feeling without the worry of winter snow and cold outside.  If it does snow during the ceremony or reception, you and your guests will love seeing the winter wonderland from the spacious windows of this reception center in Utah.

Having your ceremony and reception or even a wedding luncheon or dinner, in an atrium setting liberates your funds to be used in other details you wish.  Why?  First of all, because you don’t have to decorate a lot.  The greenery of many varieties of plants is a beautiful backdrop for an accenting color selected by the bride!  Dad’s pocketbook doesn’t have to pay for extra floral arrangements to create a beautiful setting for the ceremony and celebration.

Be happy in your Utah wedding reception venues that are a garden in decor

Wedding Venues in Utah That Give Bride’s Choice

Wedding Venues in Utah That Give Bride’s Choice

This simple ceremony was a family affair with plenty of family to enjoy the union of the couple.  Brides enjoy wedding venues in Utah in which they can choose their own cake designer and caterer.  You find that at Atrium Weddings.

Tom Catrow was their caterer who served his own delicacies including puff pastries, sandwiches, fruit kabobs, and an assortment of cheese and crackers.  A close friend created the flower arrangements and Granite Bakery created their cake.  With a touch of beach style, the tiers of cake sat upon glass vases filled with sea shells.  Seashells also dotted the table centerpieces.

Utah groom enjoys his wedding cake too!Notice the groom’s cake.  Obviously Rubics Cubes are big with this groom.  He cut one perfect square out of it and shared with his new wife.

Ryan Cummings was the photographer at this Utah wedding.  He is a local photographer who teaches at Salt Lake Community College.  He enjoys photographing brides in Utah wedding reception centers like Atrium Weddings.

Dish-ware Packages Can Be a Valued Luxury at Wedding Venues Salt Lake City Offers

Outdoor ceremony at a wedding venue in Salt Lake CityThis bride looked at many wedding venues Salt Lake City offers.  She then chose Atrium Weddings for her outdoor ceremony and indoor reception dinner because of their flexibility, beautiful ambiance, and polite staff.  She also discovered that for a real value, she upgraded her booking to use stylish dish-ware that cost a fraction more than if they had chosen other plastic or paper alternatives.  After her outdoor ceremony and wedding-party photos at the waterfall, everyone came into Atrium’s indoor garden for a stunning sit-down meal.  The tables were pre-set by the caterers.  Misty chose this Salt Lake wedding venue’s stylish square dishes.  Traditional round plates are also an option.  The package includes several plates/dishes, goblet, several pieces of silverware, and a linen napkin.  For $1.50 per person (price subject to change), this is an added touch of class to make any sparkling bride’s wedding reception sparkle even more.

Wedding Planning Basics

Wedding Planning Basics

Focusing on the Bride at Sandy wedding locationThere are some basic steps that all weddings have in common.  Planning for a wedding may seem like an overwhelming task. With organization plus a checklist, planning a wedding is much easier to manage.  Break everything down into steps, and put them all on a timetable, so you can check them off as they are complete.

The first thing to do is to set up a wedding planner, which can be done the old fashioned way with a folder, or tech savvy people can use an online plan.  Using an online plan makes planning easier for other people to get involved, with many options offering real time changes with alerts to keep everyone that is involved in the loop.  Make a list of the different wedding ideas you have, and place them into the folder, or in the notes of your online planner.

The next thing to determine is the budget, because everything else in a wedding revolves around this factor.  When you know exactly how much money you have to spend on your wedding you can begin to make the other choices.  Almost half of the wedding budget is typically spent upon the Utah wedding reception.  This figure can be reduced if you look for Utah wedding locations that can act as both Utah wedding venues and a Utah wedding reception center, because you will be able to use the same flowers and other decorations.

The budget can also be reduced when you choose an outdoor wedding, or a place like the Atrium at Western Gardens in Sandy Utah, which offers the feel of an outdoor wedding in any weather with atrium weddings.  The reason you can reduce the cost, is because, with all the plants in the atrium, much of the decorating is already in place and part of the cost of the venue.  You will also be able to reduce the amount you spend upon the flowers, plus transporting everything from the plant locations to a Sandy Utah wedding reception center.

The next item to take care of is to choose the people that will participate in the wedding and reception.  This needs to be done as soon as possible, so these people can put the date on the calendar.  These people can also help with some of the planning choices, which can help lower all the planning stress.

At this point, you will want to begin the guest list, which will depend upon the budget.  After you have checked the price of the venue, gown and additional wedding attire, invitations, flowers, music, pictures, and other incidentals, you will have a figure left to use on the reception.  This amount that is left will determine the number of people you can invite to the wedding and reception.

If your budget permits, you can hire a wedding planner to help with all these details.  Wedding planners have built relationships with different vendors, to secure you a better price on some of the things for wedding receptions in Utah.

Make reservations for wedding venues in Utah at this point, so you will have the date set.  Many times the date of your wedding has to be scheduled around the available dates of the venue you want to hold the wedding and reception at.  The choice of venue will also help determine the number of guests at the reception, because of the room available.  Choosing a place like the Atrium at Western Gardens is a great choice for wedding venues Utah, because it not only offers an outdoor feel in any weather, it is particularly spacious and can comfortable being one of the best reception centers Utah.

Now you will want to begin to interview and hire the different people that supply the music, food, flowers, and invitations for your wedding.  This may take some time, and can be accomplished with ease, if you delegate some of these tasks to different people that are involved in the wedding party.

Now it is time to throw the engagement party to celebrate the most significant day of your life.  The people that you will invite to the engagement party will be some of the same people that will be attending the wedding.  You will want the people that attend your engagement party to be your closest acquaintances; the people that you know will want to celebrate this momentous event with you.

Once you reserve your Sandy reception center, you will know how much money is left for the rest of the wedding.  One of the quickest ways to cut costs, is to cut the guest list, and only invite the people that are your closest relatives and friends on both the bride and grooms side of the family.  You will save on the food, flowers for the table, guest favors, size of the cake, plus invitations, for every guest you cut from the list.

Reserving your wedding ceremony venue, plus using the same venue as your reception center, can save on your budget.  You will also prevent the stress of trying to transport everything from one venue to the next on your wedding day.  If you reserve  the Salt Lake City wedding venue during off peak season, you can possibly save money on the venue and other wedding services.

Some details that are easy plus can cut wedding costs, include ordering a smaller 2 tier wedding cake, and use a sheet cake to serve guests.  Another place you can save a considerable amount of money on, is the dinner, try finger foods, appetizers and beverages, instead of a main course.  A full bar will also add to the wedding budget, so you could offer wine and beer instead.  Skipping the champagne toast will also cut down on some of the extra cost to your wedding budget.

You can always make your own wedding favors, menu cards, and escort cards, along with lots of other details that you can handle yourself, which will save on your wedding budget.  Making the table decorations, and flower arrangements can save you money on your wedding budget.  Use greenery, and flowers that are in season, leaving out the more expensive flowers and include non floral decorations to save money.

A Petal-Filled Flower Wonderland

A Petal-Filled Flower Wonderland

Sandy Utah wedding venue, recommends Hillside Floral for their intricate designs and creations.

There are several things a couple should take into consideration when setting a floral budget. First, using flowers that are in season and do not require importation will be far less expensive than exotic flowers that are not locally in season. Exotic flowers in non-exotic locations can be very expensive. Flowers help set the theme and tone of the wedding. From the simple calla lily, which radiates a refined elegance, to the exotic playful orchid that highlights a tropical playfulness, flowers help define a wedding’s theme.

Several arrangements are traditionally required in a wedding ceremony. They include the bride’s bouquet, maid of honor’s/matron of honor’s bouquet, bridesmaids’ bouquets, groom’s boutonniere, best man’s boutonniere, groomsmen’s boutonnieres, mothers’ corsages and fathers’ boutonnieres. Additionally, if a wedding party has a flower girl, she typically has an assortment of hair flowers, including a basket of petals she lightly tosses down the aisle. A bride typically wants to retain her actual bouquet to have it preserved, so often florists will make a throw bouquet. Sometimes guests give their grandparents or other close family members corsages or boutonnieres to wear. All these are important to factor into the budget.

Centerpieces should also be included in the flower budget. Different options can be incorporated to help supplement flowers, including greenery, windy limbs, ferns, berry-type plants, feathers, pearly vines, etc. Often times these small details can help tie ceremonial flowers and décor to the Utah wedding reception. Florists typically rent the vases to couples but it is important to inquire if guests can take the flowers in the centerpiece home as a gift. Florists typically set up the flowers for the ceremony, distribute boutonnieres, bouquets, set up the reception area, etc. Hiring a Utah florist to complete these tasks helps make the momentous day less stressful.

A bride’s bouquet compliments her gown and is a stunning accessory that does not overpower her stature and size, but allows the radiance of her attire to glow. Often times incorporating certain colors, ribbons or pearls into the bouquet can help tie the dress to the bouquet and make it a flowing accessory.

Not only should the reception area have centerpieces, but also couples should consider adding colorful flowers or exhibits to the gift and wedding guest book table. Adding a variety of colorful potted plants, twigs or other nature-filled displays will also help tie the room together, making it feel as though the tables, walls, and surrounding perimeter flow into a cohesive magical theme.
